Philipp Troppmann is a Policy & Legislative Officer with the European Commission, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE). He is currently working in the Road Safety unit where he is in charge of the Infrastructure and Tunnel Directives. Philipp held previously other positions within the European Commission, most recently in the automotive unit at DG GROW where he was a team leader for EU type-approval legislation for vehicles and engines (safety, emissions). Earlier positions led him to set-up and manage an innovation programme for improving carbon-efficiency of energy-intensive manufacturing industries, to develop technical benchmarks under the EU Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and to manage European research projects and programmes for DG Research & Innovation. Before joining the European Commission about 13 years ago, Philipp spent 10 years of his professional life in the private sector for the French multinational group Air Liquide. Philipp held several operational and managerial positions within that Group in Germany and France. Philipp holds a diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) and a doctorate degree (Dr.-Ing.) from RWTH Aachen in mechanical engineering, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Collège des Ingénieurs in Paris (France).
